International Bird Watching Program

As we informed you in September, our students from Years 3 to Year 6 are participating with pupils from schools from all over the world in the 'International Bird Watching Program'.

During this month, we have been observing the birds that visit our park and we have collected information about the amount and variety of species we have seen.  We have sent all of this information to the 'Superclubs' co-ordinator, the international organisation of whom we are a part.

On Tuesday 15th March, the students from year 5R connected online via webcam with schools from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Australia and Kenya to show each other the different species of birds that we have seen.  In the coming months, other classes will have the experience to connect via webcam with schools worldwide.

Afterwards we scanned the drawings that we had done of the birds and sent them via email.

Collaborating with boys and girls from other countries in such a wonderful project, makes our students realise the importance of wildlife conservation, appreciate nature, its flora and fauna, and in addition feel part of the worldwide community.
