As part of the “coursework” for Travel and Tourism, on Tuesday 27th October, students from years 10, and on Wednesday 28th October, students from years 11 and 13, together with their Travel and Tourism teacher, visited the THB Torrequebrada Hotel in Benalmádena. Upon arrival they were welcomed by the Director as well as by the heads of the different departments. The head of administration, explained to the students the functioning of each department and accompanied them around the hotel for a tour. They visited all the hotel facilities, including different types of rooms and suites, as well as the areas that are usually not accessible to guests, like the boiler room.
The Director of the hotel gave the students a very interesting talk explaining the importance and responsibility of his role, offering them a clear perspective and understanding of his profession.
As a conclusion to their visit, the students were kindly offered refreshments in the lobby bar.
This type of experience not only promotes the comprehension of the multiple aspects and demands of such a practical subject like Travel and Tourism, which requires a great amount of creativity and self-initiative, but it also awards the students a real view to the different professions within the travel and tourism Industry.
After the visit, the hotel sent us an e-mail greeting us for the keen interest showed by our students during the talks and explanations they received, as well as for their behaviour, that they consider was impeccable.
